Canadian Poker Players: How To Deposit

One thing that’s great about living in Canada is that we don’t have to worry too much about deposit options.  If you’re in the USA it’s next to impossible to deposit at online poker rooms these days.  Thankfully in Canada, we don’t have any deposit or withdrawal problems to worry about!

First I should warn you – there is a good chance that your credit card deposits won’t work.  It seems to be 50/50 odds on whether or not your Visa or Mastercard will actually work at a poker room.  I generally don’t do Canadian credit card deposits, simply because it limits your withdrawal options.

If you deposit with credit card, your only withdrawal option is a cheque. That can take awhile to arrive, plus some poker rooms charge a fee for cheque withdrawals.

My preferred method by far is Moneybookers. I’ve been using them for years, and every online poker room I’ve ever used accepts Moneybookers deposit and withdrawals. You set it up with your bank account and can transfer money in and out with ease.

What’s great is you can also get a security key from them – one of those security tokens where you have to hit a button and it generates numbers randomly, and is good for only one login. This makes your funds 100% secure, and it’s very reassuring to go to sleep at night knowing your money is safe! Click here to sign up with Moneybookers. It’s all free, and deposits don’t cost you anything either.

Other options for Canadians include Bank Wire Transfers, Entropay, uKash, Insta Debit and Electronic Transfer. In all honesty I haven’t used any of these deposit options in years – I always rely on Moneybookers. However over the next few weeks I’ll be sure to try out these options, and report back my findings.

If you have any experience with those methods, please send me an e-mail at dan@onlinepokerreviews.ca and I’ll update this page with that information. Thanks.
